Afrique Aya

Angelo Yao, master drummer and dancer  was born in Bouake, Ivory Coast, West Africa.  At age 14 he joined Koteba, the premier Ivoirean dance and theater company, and toured the world with that troupe from 1992-1997.  He was invited to the US in 1997 by choreographer Ralph Lemon to create “Geography,” a fusion of post modern movement and traditional African Dance.  This production was performed at Yale Repertory Theatre, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and elsewhere throughout the US.  In 1998, Angelo then formed Afrique Aya.  Afrique Aya is a group of dancers and drummers dedicated to enjoying and sharing the music and culture of West Africa.  Inspired by the rhythms of Ivory Coast.  Afrique Aya celebrates the synergy of nature, spirit, movement, and percussion.  Afrique Aya offers drum & dance performances and classes.  To schedule a performance contact Shakeenah Kedem at or 870-404-1531.

Fayetteville Jiu-Jitsu

FJJ is a family and friend inspired Jiu-Jitsu school interested in developing a healthy community.  It started off with two friends and the goals of learning Jiu-Jitsu and in turn having their children learn this great art of self defense.  Over the course of 2-3 years we have gone from 2 of us working out once a week in a small room and garage to having our own studio .  We have been offering kids classes for free at a local school since the summer of 2015.  After being asked by multiple parents about kids classes, we now offer kids classes for the general public along adult classes.
