Ho'oponopono Meditation

By Debora Ribas, MA, RYT

Many of us have gotten used to self-punishment, believing that harsh self criticism will make us better people, more likable, or successful. This week we are going to challenge this belief, and instead cultivate a way of being with ourselves that is based on compassion through engaging in Ho'oponopono. This prayer is an ancient Hawaiian tradition for forgiveness and spiritual healing. It aims to clear negative memories stored subconsciously in our body-mind. The modern version of this method of healing was “created and developed by Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona, a Hawaiian Kahuna Lapa’au. She was recognized by the state of Hawaii as a Living Treasure in 1983” (Learn more) This method has been spread around the world by the efforts of Ihaleakala Hew Len, PhD in contribution with Joe Vitale.
