Massage Therapy

Massage not only relieves pain and tension from sore, achy muscles, but it also has been found to improve mental health. It does this by decreasing cortisol (a stress hormone) and regulating serotonin and dopamine. These two neurotransmitters play a key role in mood regulation, motivation, emotional processing, and feelings of hopefulness. Trauma often lives within the physical body, so massage plays an important role in integrating healing. It does this by easing the body and nervous system out of chronic fight-flight-freeze survival responses- ultimately, helping you to find a sense of balance and renewal.

  • Cupping

Massage Cupping is a modern adaptation of a technique commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In contrast to traditional massage which uses compression techniques which press down the tissue. Cupping Therapy uses suction of the tissue. This technique uses glass, plastic or rubber cups from which air is evacuated to create a suction to the skin that is lifted into the cup. The cups are then moved in a sliding motion across the body’s surface to engage more tissue. The cups can also be left on certain areas of tensions with range of motion of the proximal or distal joints to aid in myofascial release or restricted range of motion, depending on your tissues needs.

“Our body is the battle ground…and our body records all personal history even if the conscious mind does not.”
