Functional Movement for Anxiety

Our minds and bodies are inextricably connected. The brain controls our body’s movements, but the way we move can also affect the way we think and feel. Anxiety is our body's natural response to stress, but often we can spend unnecessary time in anxiety and end up feeling stuck or frozen in it. Movement is a great antidote to that frozen state. It helps get us unstuck and can help process and release stress in the body. On a biochemical level, movement can release feel-good endorphins and other natural brain chemicals that can enhance your sense of well-being. If it feels good, then pay attention to your senses in your movement practice to make it more mindful. Follow your breath as you deeply inhale and exhale. Observe your experiences and thoughts without judgment. Movement can be an amazing way to reset your system, as well as maintain wellness overall. Take some time for yourself. Take some time to move.
